Description
This engraving of President Abraham Lincoln and his youngest son, Tad, was done from a photograph taken of them on February 9, 1864, in Washington, D. C. President Lincoln is shown seated in a chair facing to the right of the image. He is wearing glasses. His son is standing behind the left arm of the chair. Lincoln is holding an album on his lap on which the lithographer changed the pages to make it appear that they are reading the Bible instead. The heading on the pages reads "Psalms." The chair has a floral design on the side of the frame. Text beneath the image reads "Phot by Brady" "Published by Bill and Brother 75 Fulton St NY" "Engraved by H.B. Hall Jr" Large type reads "Lincoln at Home" in the lower margin. "Proof" is printed to the lower left and to the lower right is "Printed by R. Nevers". On the back in pencil at the top middle and bottom middle reads "39-11." Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
