Description
This tinted engraving features a head and shoulders portrait of Vice Admiral David Glasgow Farragut, a naval officer from the United States Civil War. He is depicted facing the front with his head turned partly toward the viewer's right. He is wearing his naval uniform with the two stars indicating his rank visible on his shoulders. Above the portrait is an illustration of the naval battle in which Farragut's fleet took the port of New Orleans in 1862. Below the portrait is an illustration of the naval battle for Mobile Bay at Mobile, Alabama, in 1864 in which Farragut won a major victory.for the Union. His facsimile signature is printed in the bottom margin just below the image and the title is printed below that.
