Description
This bulletin to the schools dated January 1-15, 1920, includes an article titled "Words about Lincoln by a Schoolmaster." The schoolmaster to whom the title refers was Dr. Newton Bateman who had personally known Abraham Lincoln in Springfield, Illinois. President Lincoln knew Dr. Bateman as the Superintendent of Public Instruction in the State of Illinois in the years immediately preceding his election in 1860. The article includes some of Dr. Newton's reminiscences of Mr. Lincoln. The remaining article in the bulletin pertain to issues and events relevant to the teachers in the state.
