Description

This hand colored lithograph features the campaign portraits of Lewis Cass and William O. Butler. Cass and Butler were the Democratic Party candidates for president and vice president in the 1848 presidential election. Cass, on the viewer's left, is depicted wearing a black coat, white vest, and black tie. Butler is depicted in his military uniform. Both portraits are bordered with oak leaves.
