Description
This color print done from an original painting by artist Harry Roseland features an older African American couple reverently admiring a small portrait of President Abraham Lincoln hanging on the wall. The couple is shown in well-worn clothing. The man stands with a cane in his left hand. In the left lower corner there is a chair with a black top hat turned upside down on it. The head and shoulders portrait of Lincoln is in an ornate oval frame. On the wall of the scene, on the left hand side about half way up can faintly be seen the artist's name "Harry Roseland - 1904." Just above that it reads "Copyright 1904 by Harry Roseland". Printed along the bottom of the page starting in the left hand corner is the publisher's information and title: "Supplement to NEW YORK TIMES Sunday, Feb 12, 1905" "MEMORIES Roseland" "Photographed and Printed in Colors by Quadri-Color Co., 62 Union Sq., N.Y."
