Description
This poster functions both as a commemorative print and a war record. "Military Memorial" is printed in the top center, surrounded by portraits of former presidents, Washington, Jackson, Lincoln, and Garfield. Below the portraits are two scenes, one of soldiers marching to war, and the other of a peaceful scene of the aftermath. More portraits of important Civil War figures decorate the upper half. Both sides are filled with numbers and facts concerning the different battles in the war. Towards the middle of the poster is written "War Record", below which a form is printed, to be filled out with the information of the soldier to whom this belongs. The boxes to be filled out read, "Of", "Enlisted", "Age". "Rank", "Co.", "Regt.", "State Vols.", "Re-Enlisted ", "Brigade", "Division", "Corps", "Army", "No. of Battles", "Wounded At", "Taken Prisoner", "Discharged", "Member Of", "Died". This record has several of the boxes filled: "Of: Putnam Clary", "Enlisted: Second day of may 1864", "Age: 54", "Rank: Private", "Co.: G", "Regt.: 169", "State Vols.: O.N. Guards", "Discharged: September 4th A.D. 1864 at Camp, Cleveland, Ohio", "Died: Died at his home, April 12th A.D. 1882." Below the personal information are more scenes of battles.
