Description

This is a photographic print of the engraving of President Abraham Lincoln done by George E. Perine in 1864 after a photograph of the president taken on November 8, 1863, in Washington, D. C. President Lincoln is shown seated at a small table with his right hand resting on a document with text suggesting it is the Emancipation Proclamation. He is seated with his body angled to the viewer's left while his head is turned slightly toward the viewer's right. The curtain in the background has a cord tied around it. It appears that part of the left pinkie finger is missing from the president's left hand in this print. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
