Description
This print features the printed program for the ceremony on May 31, 1953, for the unveiling of the historical marker placed where President Abraham Lincoln changed trains at the Hanover Junction station on his way to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on November 18, 1863. The following day he delivered his famous speech known as the Gettysburg Address at the dedication ceremony for the National Cemetery there. In addition to the order of events in the ceremony, the program also lists everyone involved in planning and participating in the ceremony, special guests attending, and the patrons. An illustration of President Lincoln speaking at the Gettysburg dedication is in the lower right corner of the program. Below the illustration is the handwritten signature in blue ink of Russell W. Bowman. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
