Description
This color print, reproduced from a painting by Louis Bonhajo, depicts President Abraham Lincoln hoisting a very large American flag at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, one of the stops his train made en route to Washington, D. C., in 1861. Lincoln wears a dark jacket and vest with a white shirt and black bow tie. People stand in the crowd on either side of Lincoln. Independence Hall stands in the distance, with a tree to the left of the Hall. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
