Description

This hand-colored lithograph depicts President Abraham Lincoln with his son Tad done after a photograph taken of them on February 9, 1864, in Washington, D. C. Lincoln is shown seated holding a book on his lap. Tad is shown standing at his father's left and looking at the book held by his father. Lincoln is shown wearing a black suit, vest, and bow tie and reading glasses. Tad wears a black suit and patterned tie. Both cast their gaze downward at the book.
