Description

This steel engraving was done from a photograph taken of President Abraham Lincoln in August of 1863 in Washington, D. C. President Lincoln is seated in a chair with a table next to it on his left. He is sitting with his right leg crossed over his left leg at the knees and with his left elbow resting on a book which is on the table. He is leaning his left temple against his left hand and has a far-away look on his face. His right hand is resting on his right leg with the index finger extended. He is wearing a black frock coat, waistcoat, and bow tie with his watch fob partially visible. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
