Description
This lithograph is a composite of the family of President Abraham Lincoln gathered together in a parlor setting. Since the Lincoln family never posed together for any artist or photographer, many artists used photographs of the individuals to compose a family scene for printing after Lincoln's death. In this print President Lincoln is seated at the viewer's left holding a large book. The Lincoln's youngest son, Tad, is standing next to his father looking at the large book. Willie, who died in 1862, is shown seated next to Tad while the oldest son, Robert, stands behind him. Mrs. Lincoln is seated at the viewer's right holding a flower in her right hand. The dome of the Capitol Building can be seen through the window behind Tad. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
