This etching depicts a head and shoulders portrait of President Abraham Lincoln. He wears a dark jacket and vest, along with a white collared shirt and black bow tie. There is a slight shadow above Lincoln's shoulders. The word "Lincoln" is printed beneath the image. The text "He was a type of the true elder race and one of Plutarch's men talked with us face to face. - LOWELL." below the title. "Designed by Deigendesch." is in the bottom left corner of the paper, and "Lincoln Art Series: Copyright, 1899, by J.P. McCaskey, Publisher, Lancaster, Pa." is in the center.
