This colored lithograph features a half-length portrait of John C. Fremont, presidential candidate in the 1856 election. He is depicted seated and holding a rolled document in his left hand. A blue drapery with gold-colored tassels is behind him. The title is printed in the bottom margin: "John C. Freemont. The Peoples Candidate for Fifteenth President of the United States."
