Description
This print is a reproduction of an oil painting by artist Lane K. Newberry showing Abraham Lincoln and Ann Rutledge seated at a table in front of a fireplace in her father's tavern where Lincoln boarded in New Salem, Illinois. The artwork was commissioned by the Chicago & Illinois Midland Railway Company to be used as calendar art. This print was used for their 1947 calendar. Pasted on the reverse is a sheet of brief explanatory text supplied by Lincoln authority, Paul M. Angle. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
