Description

This print features a bearded Abraham Lincoln facing partially toward the viewer's right. Lincoln wears a dark jacket and vest, along with a white collared shirt and black bow tie. Only the bust of Lincoln is shown. There are elements of shadow around his shoulders. "Photo by J.C. Spooner" is written just under Lincoln's right shoulder. The text that frames the image below that appears to read, "Copyrighted according to Act of Congress in the year 1865 by J.C. Spooner in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of Massachusetts." - Though the print is very faded. A facsimile of Lincoln's signature appears below that. The image appears on a piece of paper whose corners have been cut, giving it an octagonal shape. There is an image of a young boy playing a drum on the reverse side. The boy stands at a three quarter view, facing slightly to his right. He wears a light blue shirt-jacket and pant ensemble with a white shirt with ruffles around the collar. The boy wears the small drum on a string around his neck, and holds a drum stick in his left hand. There are elements of shadow around the boy's arms and shoulders.
