Description

This supplement to the Shelby County Leader dated February 11, 1926, features the text of an interview by Duncan T. McIntyre with 86 year-old Dennis Hanks, cousin of President Abraham Lincoln. Through questions from the interviewer, Hanks gives his recollections of living with the family of Abraham Lincoln from his early years until the Lincoln family moved from Indiana to Illinois. The article includes a portrait of Hanks as an older man, an illustration of a Lincoln statue by St. Gaudens, and the text of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. The whole article is surrounded by a decorative rectangular border. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
