Description
This gray-toned print features a medium-sized portrait of George Washington in the center flocked by tilted smaller portraits of the next 23 men who succeeded him as President of the United States; some of these men include Andrew Johnson, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Harrison, Martin Van Buren, etc. Washington's central portrait is circular and surrounded by laurel leaves while 19 of the smaller portraits of the presidents are rectangular and 4 are ovular. Below Washington's portrait is another rectangular box that is titled, "Important Wars of the United States" and goes on to mention and give the date ranges of the American Revolution, War of 1812, Mexican War, and Civil War. Below this war listing, there are some statistics on the number of Confederate and Union soldiers who either died or were captured during the Civil War. The title of the print, "Washington and His Successors" is at the bottom center and below that is another text line reading, "Statesmen, Soldiers, Patriots, and Heroes".
