Description
This print features various "views in the life" of Abraham Lincoln, depicting his early log cabin home in Illinois, his house in Springfield, a "grocery" Lincoln owned in Illinois, and the ruins of the Salem Hotel. The top of the print gives the title, "Views in the Life of Abraham Lincoln, Salem, Menard Co. ILL." Below the images are larger portrait images of Harry Riggin on the left and J. L. Riggin on the right; facsimile signatures appear below their images. "Riggin, Harry" is written horizontally along the side of the man's image. The entire print is framed by a tree branch pattern. Tree branches, chains, and an axe and a maul were used to divide the individual images of the buildings. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
