Description

This calendar features the head and shoulders portrait of President Abraham Lincoln showing through the text of his Gettysburg Address which he gave at the dedication ceremony for the National Cemetery in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on November 19, 1863. The portrait print is pasted in the center of a decorative rectangular border which is in the center of the poster. In each upper corner is an illustration of a patriotic eagle with the Capitol Building on one side, the White House on the other side, and a red, white, and blue shield under its feet. In the center of the top margin beneath the hole for hanging the poster is a small illustration of the Liberty Bell on a red background. Beneath the Liberty Bell and above the pasted portrait print is the note, "This Calendar made by a Disabled Veteran of the World War." Four small American flag images run down each side margin leading to the illustrations in the bottom corners of a patriotic shield resting on olive branches with a banner above the shield showing the phrase "E Pluribus Unum." In the center of the bottom margin is a quotation from Abraham Lincoln with the calendar page pasted below. The only remaining calendar page is for the month of December. On the reverse of the poster is the text of the Constitution of the United States including the first 19 Amendments all printed in green ink within a decorative rectangular border.
