Description

This engraving done after a painting by H. B. Hall depicts President Abraham Lincoln "At the Presidents house, Washington, D. C. with Members of His Cabinet in Council with Lieut. Gen. Scott and Prominent Officers of the Army." President Lincoln is seated at the left end of the table with Secretary of State William H. Seward next to him. General Scott is standing and pointing at a map. Seated next to him is Secretary of War Simon Cameron. George B. McClellan stands slightly behind Cameron. Army officers Benjamin F. Butler, John E. Wool, Robert Anderson, John C. Fremont, and John A. Dix are seated or standing around the end of the table opposite President Lincoln.
