Description

This photographic print features the 1957 Lincoln penny designed and engraved by Victor Brenner on heavy stock. At the top of the penny are the words "In God We Trust" with the engraved head and shoulders right profile of President Abraham Lincoln below. To the viewer's left is the word "Liberty" and to the viewer's right is the date 1957 with a "D" below indicating that this coin was minted at the Denver, Colorado, mint. On the reverse of the print is an image of the reverse side of the penny. At the top are the Latin words "E Pluribus Unum." Beneath and extending over the middle portion of the coin are the words "One Cent, United States of America." Following the curve of the coin on either side of the text are two heads of wheat. A hole is punched in the top corner of the stock so that the image hangs as a diamond shape. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
