Description

This original pen and ink drawing depicts the Little Pigeon Baptist Church in southern Indiana near the Lincoln farm where young Abraham Lincoln's family attended church. The church's door is open in the front of the building and a small loft window is visible near the chimney to the viewer's right. The tip of a chimney on the opposite end of the building can be seen. Tall trees surround the building. Logs lay on the ground in the foreground. The artist's signature appears in the bottom right corner of the print. This illustration is one of several illustrations done by C. M. Biggers for the book "The Lincoln Album : Life of the Preserver of the Union, the Liberator of a People, and the First American" published in 1907 by Hawkins Publishing Company, St. Louis, Missouri. The entire book pdf can be viewed online at https: ia802905.us.archive.org. This illustration appears on page14 in the book.
