Description
This pen and ink illustration, showing the three buildings housing the law offices in which Abraham Lincoln worked in Springfield, Illinois, is one of several illustrations done by C. M. Biggers for the book "The Lincoln Album : Life of the Preserver of the Union, the Liberator of a People, and the First American" published in 1907 by Hawkins Publishing Company, St. Louis, Missouri. This print features the facades of three different buildings. The first on the viewer's left is "Tom Dupleauxs Furniture Store" which held the Stuart and Lincoln Law Office on the second floor. The building depicted in the middle held the Logan and Lincoln Law Office on the third floor. The building to the viewer's right held the Lincoln and Herdon Law Office on the third floor. Each building is drawn as though the viewer is standing in the street in front of it. The entire book pdf can be viewed online at https: //ia802905.us.archive.org. This illustration appears on page 36 in the book. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
