Description
This print, taken from the July 1949 issue of Esquire Magazine, depicts a young Abraham Lincoln wrestling Jack Armstrong in New Salem, Illinois. Lincoln is holding Armstrong in the air while a crowd standing around them cheers them on. A log cabin is in the top left corner of the print with a white shirt laying on the roof and a red shirt on the ground at the corner of the cabin. The title is in the margin below the image. The artist painted the original illustration for Esquire Magazine to accompany the article titled "There was a Man: Abe Lincoln Licks Jack Armstrong."
