Description

This hand colored lithograph is a half-length portrait of Major General George B. McClellan, Union Major General in the Civil War and Democratic presidential candidate in 1864. He organized the Army of the Potomac and served as general-in-chief of the Union Army in 1861-1862 until President Lincoln relieved McClellan of his command due to his overly cautious battle strategy.
