Description
This engraving features a half-length portrait of President Abraham Lincoln done from a photograph taken of him on February 5, 1865, in Washington, D. C. President Lincoln is shown facing the viewer and seated beside a table on which he rests his left elbow. He holds a pencil in his right hand and his eyeglasses in his left. Lincoln was fidgeting a bit while posing so that the pencil and the eyeglasses came out blurred in the original photograph. The engraving was printed on a cream-colored background. The artist's handwritten signature and the date are just below the right corner of the image. A facsimile Lincoln signature is printed in the bottom margin.
