Description

This tinted engraving features a head and shoulders portrait of General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson who served as a Confederate general during the American Civil War. Done from a photograph from life, Jackson is depicted facing the viewer and wearing a military uniform with gold buttons and gold stars on the collar. A facsimile signature is just below the image to the viewer's right. Below the image text in script reads "Sold by the authority of the Jackson Monument Association for the purpose of erecting a monument to the memory of Genl. Thomas J. Jackson, at the Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Va." Signatures of officers of the Association are in the bottom corners of the margin.
