Description

This color print depicts Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas during one of their debates in 1858. Lincoln is shown standing slightly to the left of center with his right hand resting on the banister while holding papers in his left hand. Douglas is shown standing to Lincoln's left and behind him holding papers in his left hand. Three figures are sitting in the foreground and there is a large crowd holding signs in the background. The stage is decorated in patriotic red, white, and blue. The artist's signature is printed in the lower left corner.
