Description
This is a watercolor painting, depicting Abraham Lincoln's boyhood home in Gentryville, Indiana. The painting features a log cabin with a front porch and a chimney attached to the side in the middle ground. A woman sits in a chair with a child at her side and a dog at her feet, while another child plays nearby in the foreground. The cabin is set in a wooded area. The painting is mounted on card stock. On the reverse side, the following is handwritten in pencil: "Log house near Gentryville, Ind. This house was built by Thomas Lincoln in 1816 when his son Abraham was seven years old. Nancy Lincoln died here in 1818 and was buried on the summit of a thickly wooded hill facing the house. The future president lived here nearly 13 years."
