Description
This color poster announces an exhibit at the Gettysburg College Library, November 19, 1999 through 2000, titled "Lincoln's Gettysburg Address is Alive & Well." A color illustration of President Abraham Lincoln's bespectacled head with the colors of the American flag covering the top of his head are at the top of the poster. Below President Lincoln's head is the text of the speech. The caption for the illustration is printed in red ink to the viewer's left of Lincoln's right ear: Gettysburg, Pa. November 19, 1863: "The crowd saw the President put on his steel-rimmed spectacles, rise, and deliberately read his speech." The title and details of the exhibit are in the lower margin. The artist's handwritten signature in pencil is near Lincoln's left ear. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
